At just 20 weeks into pregnancy, baby Ej's parents received news that changed everything: that our little boy had been diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex congenital heart defect. While the diagnosis was overwhelming, it also marked the beginning of a journey filled with hope, resilience, and love.

EJ made his entrance into the world a bit earlier than expected, born prematurely at 33 weeks and 5 days. Weighing just 5 pounds, he spent the first 25 days of his life in the SICU, where he quickly became known for his fighting spirit and sweet temperament.

During those 25 days, we learned how to navigate monitors, feeding tubes, and medications—but most importantly, we learned just how strong our little boy truly was. EJ never let his heart condition define him.

At 4 months old, while playing at home EJ started to suddenly cry and turned purple around the lips and toes. We rushed to the ER and were admitted. He had open heart surgery 3 days later.

Despite the challenges, EJ is a joyful baby who lights up when his big brother reads to him or lines up his colorful toy cars nearby. Their bond is already unbreakable—two best friends with a world of adventure ahead.

Ej's favorite toy is a pull-string musical toy that brings a smile to his face every time it plays its lullaby.

Ej's story is still unfolding, but one thing is certain: he is surrounded by love, strength, and a big brother who believes his little hero can do anything.
