Update 12/30:
Colters surgery was successful yesterday and he is doing well. His bleeding was minimal so they were able to remove his chest tubes. He is still on a ventilator due to his partially collapsed lung so they tried a bronchoscopy to remove any mucus. There was not much, however they found that the breathing tube was lower than it should have been so they adjusted it in hopes that it would get more oxygen into the collapsed part of the lung.
Colter still has a long road of recovery ahead of him and we're not sure when he'll be able to come home so please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Thank you to everyone that has prayed, shared or donated- we appreciate you, your kind words, and love during this difficult time.
On Christmas Eve, Colter made his way into this world, but he has had a difficult start to life. Starting first with shoulder dystocia during birth, which led to bruising on his face and a broken right humerus, to finding out he has a heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). He has undergone one surgery so far, with open-heart surgery scheduled for Monday or Tuesday next week. They haven't been able to hold him yet, and he will be in the cardiac ICU at Children's Hospital for at least the next few weeks.
This is a very difficult and scary time for Josh and Bre. No parent should have to worry about these things. While we are incredibly grateful for the medical team caring for him, this unexpected journey has brought both emotional and financial challenges for the family. We're hoping to take some of their stress away so they can focus on Colter's healing and recovery and not about returning to work while he is still in the hospital.
If you feel led to give, any financial support—no matter the amount—would be deeply appreciated. Your love, prayers, and support mean more than words can express.
