Support The Maurer family as Newborn Baby Cade Fights Bacterial Menigitis

After waitng 2 long years, Brittany and Chuck Maurer received the call they were eagerly awaiting. Two days later Baby Cade was coming home to meet his new big brothers Aiden and Noah. Over the last few weeks they easily transitioned from a family of four to a family of five. Aiden and Noah quickly became loving and caring big brothers.

On Thursday, August 25th, just 2.5 weeks after he was born, Cade spiked a fever. They called the doctor and monitored his symptoms and with little to no improvment, the doctors recommended bringing him to the emergency room. While there, they ran tests and diagnosed him with bacterial meningitis. They were transferred downtown to the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where baby Cade was put on an aggressive treatment of antibiotics. Since this all started, he has been put through CAT scans, ultra sounds, EEGs and a MRI. On Sunday, the MRI revealed an abscess on Cade’s brain. Luckly, the EEG did not show signs of seizure activity. They are now adding a PICC line. This intravenous catheter, will help provide Cade with the medicinal therapy and fluids he needs. Because he is only 3 weeks old and the severity of the infection, Cade will need to stay in the hospital for a minimum of 4-6 weeks to ensure a full recovery.

Chuck and Brittany are trying to stay optomistic despite the heaviness of the health of their beautiful baby boy. They have been taking turns at the hospital since Thursday. Their family has been supporting them with dinners and taking care of the boys. Luckily, Brittany’s dad works at the hospital and has been able to visit them in the PICU. Although Aiden, 7 and Noah, 6 are brave boys, they miss their mommy and daddy being home and are struggling with their schedules being thrown off.

The stress of being at the hospital day and night and medical expenses are also weighing on Brittany and Chuck.

If you are able to donate to Cade’s medical expenses and support The Maurer family as they navigate this extremely difficult time it would be really appreciated. I know they are also spending a lot of money eating while at the hospital. Please message me at Shanna Marino Kovi if you would like to drop off a Door Dash or other gifts to the family.

Thank you so much for spreading this message and supporting The Maurer Family of Five! We need to get Cade Anthony healthy because as we all know, he has many Disney vacations and Cedar Point trips awaiting him!
