Braiya's burn recovery
Donation protected
I have written and rewritten this story a thousand times and it will never be read without sadness.
This innocent, fun, loving child was scolded in hot tap water by her care provider. (That's about all the info I can give you legally, please understand)
Braiya began the fight of her life April 20th 2017. During her 45 day stay at Regions hospital burn unit she endured three surgeries and two emergency trips to the OR due to infection. Braiya was intubated after her second but, first major surgery/skin grafting for six days, and during those six days, she had to be bagged twice. Once because she stopped breathing, or rather held her breath because she woke suddenly from the sedative combination they were transitioning her to, not being strong enough and the ventilator couldn't contract. (I thought I lost my baby) the second time the ventilator shut off, everything turned black. After being taken off of the ventilator she still had to receive Inter-nasal sedation before a dressing change. Because you can not truly determine how much medicine gets into the system this way, she overdosed. The doctors chose not to give her sedation before dressing changes after that. So mentally she was tortured. 42 of the 45 days Braiya was on a feeding tube and still must maintain a caloric intake of about 3000 to aid in cell reformation. All of her butt is grafted along with partial hip thigh and all of her perineum. Both her feet and ankles and mid calf on her left leg also grafted. Which has been causing her a great deal of issues with balance and walking. Since the grafted skin shrinks some of her toes are pulled up and deformed. Braiya has physical and speech therapy once a week here in Williston and continued follow up visits in St. Paul. MN. I am never ever the one to ask for a handout but my family and I have no other way to continue these appointments without help. Seriously every little donation helps, even spreading the word. At western cooperative credit union there is a direct donation account under "Braiyas Benefit" where checks can be mailed directly to @po box 2237 Williston ND 58801. Thank you for taking your time to read Braiyas story and if you can not donate please please please share!
