I am Misty. If you are a part of the cross stitch community, you probably already know me as the owner of Mystic Fabrics. I just became a Grandma! My son Evan and his wife Jessica are the proud parents of Arya Renee, born April 8th, 2026. Jessica was scheduled for a c-section on the lucky 13th, but Arya had plans of her own and arrived 2 weeks and 1 day early. Mommy and daddy are so happy!

Arya was diagnosed with Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele and hydrocephalus in utero and had her first surgery on April 9th to repair her spine and place a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt to drain excess cerebrospinal fluid from the brain to the abdomen. Living with spina bifida is a unique journey for each person. Even after a successful surgery no one can predict what complications Arya will live with, or how much continuing medical care she will need.

I am asking for donations for Evan and Jessica for baby Arya's medical expenses. Despite having insurance, the premiums, co-pays, and medicine for NICU care add up fast. Evan and Jessica are also worried about medical expenses as Arya grows. She may need multiple hospital stays, specialized medical equipment, and/or specialty therapy.

It is my hope that donations will help Evan and Jessica with the medical costs. The unknown is very scary and staying together through this is very important. If you are able to donate to help Evan, Jessica, and baby Arya, any gift is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
