From the moment Aria’s parents first saw her tiny heartbeat on an ultrasound, they dreamed of the day she would enter the world. However, at her anatomy scan it was discovered that baby Aria had a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Arteries (d-TGA). This condition means her pulmonary artery and aorta were switched, requiring open-heart surgery for survival. From that moment on, her mother’s pregnancy was closely monitored by a dedicated team of providers preparing for Aria's arrival.
On January 13, 2025, Aria Monroe Sheehan was born weighing 7 lbs 11 oz after delivery. Shortly after birth, she was transported to the cardiac ICU at UPMC Children’s Hospital, where she was stabilized and prepared for her critical surgery. Four days later, she underwent an arterial switch procedure, and she is now courageously recovering.
Aria’s journey is far from over, and her recovery will be long and challenging. Her family is asking for thoughts, prayers, and support to help her get through this difficult time.
Any contribution, big or small, will help ease the financial burden on her family, allowing them to focus entirely on Aria’s care and healing. Your kindness and generosity mean everything.
Thank you for supporting baby Aria and being part of her story.
