Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to share the story of my 10-month-old nephew, Anthony.
Just recently, Anthony was diagnosed with hepatoblastoma, a rare and aggressive liver cancer that affects infants. In a matter of weeks, my brother and his family went from celebrating their baby boy’s 6-month milestones to facing every parent’s worst nightmare: preparing their child for major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
Before surgery could happen, Anthony faced another life-threatening battle. He came down with the flu, which quickly led to pneumonia and complications that kept him in the hospital for six weeks. It was a scary and exhausting time — watching a baby fight through illness, tests, machines, and long nights in a hospital room.
But through it all, Anthony proved what a fighter he is.
Eventually, doctors determined the timing was right, and Anthony underwent surgery to remove the tumor — and it was successful. We are so thankful to the incredible medical team who helped get him to this point, and to everyone who kept him in their thoughts and prayers.
Now comes the next chapter: recovery.
Anthony’s healing journey is far from over. His body is still recovering from weeks in the hospital and from major surgery. There are many follow-up treatments, scans, and specialist visits ahead — along with the emotional and financial toll this has taken on his family.
That’s why we’ve created this GoFundMe — to ask for your help in easing the burden, so Anthony’s parents can focus on what matters most: being fully present for their son.
Your support will help cover:
- Medical expenses not covered by insurance
- Travel, lodging, and meal costs during hospital stays
- Household bills while Anthony’s parents take unpaid time off work
- Post-surgery recovery items and continued care
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign means the world to us. Every share brings more support, more love, and more strength to a baby who has already shown so much of it.
Anthony has already beaten the odds more than once. Let’s rally around him and help give this brave little boy the healing space he deserves.
With love and gratitude,
Jose Loera and family
