I'm starting this gofundme in hopes of relieving some financial stress for an amazing family. They are going through the unthinkable with their precious new 2 week old baby girl Alex. Her sweet mother has an update below on everything that has been going on. Please help anyway you can.

Just an update on everything that has been going on. I will try and address all questions getting asked—

Alex had lost more weight after birth than she should so we had scheduled weight checks and pediatrician follow-ups. Early morning of July 24 she had 2 events of tremors and almost seizure like activity while remaining awake and responsive and she recovered like normal after. While discussing the events with her pediatrician there was debate of if it could be normal newborn movements or something more but since she was awake and alert at the time the decision was made to continue to monitor. After leaving the pediatrician she was her normal 2-week old self but shortly after getting home she started to have repeated and longer seizure like activity followed by a postictal (not waking up) state. Justin and I quickly brought her to Nationwide Children’s. While there she was 34 degrees C (93 degrees F), had low blood pressure and was having periods of apnea (not breathing) along with repeated seizures. Alex was quickly moved to a trauma room and was intubated along with getting started on medication to bring her blood pressure up to normal range. We were transferred to the downtown Nationwide Children’s and got a MRI, EEG placed and 2 lumbar punctures done. She was started on multiple antibiotics and antivirals as well as more medication for her blood pressure. We talked with about every different specialty about what could possibly be wrong. As of yesterday we found out the Alex has enterovirus that has affected her brain causing frontal lobe damage and seizures.

She is currently off all medication for her blood pressure and is no longer sedated. She remains sleepy due to the medication she has gotten due to continued subclinical seizures (seizures that are not showing outward signs). Cultures are still pending to show if she maybe has another infection or not but all we can do right now is wait. Doctors are hopeful that maybe tomorrow or the next day we can possibly remove the breathing tube and move forward from there. While there will be a degree of permanent brain damage in her frontal lobe the extent and resulting changes are something we will never definitively be able to know due to her age but her doctors and family are hopeful about her stubbornness that she’ll continue to be just perfect.

Lastly- this whole process and nightmare has been a massive toll on our entire family and it still is not over but I want to thank everyone for continued support, love, prayers and kind words and actions. We’ve all been processing in our own ways and this momma needed just a few days of radio silence from her end to be able process and put words to this mess so again thank you to everyone for your support and patience ❤️❤️

Update from Dad...
Great news!
Alexandra has been 72 hours without any seizures. Her EEG was removed and her breathing tube was removed. She is on 1 oxygen level because after 30 minutes of no oxygen she begins shallow breathing.

She needs to breath on her own, regulate body temp around 36 Celsius, and feed normal that's the next goal.

They are very happy with the progress thus far. Please continue the love and prayers as they are still needed.
