Support Baby Addison - Heart Warrior

Those of you that know Jenn and James Powell probably know by now that sweet baby Addison had to have open heart surgery on September 5, 2019. She was born with a heart defect that unfortunately was not an easy fix.  I can’t imagine what Jenn and James have been going through as they’ve prepared to watch their 5 month old undergo such a serious operation.  Thankfully, all went well, and at the time of writing this, Addison is resting and recovering. She will have to spend some time in the ICU. Now that the stress of the actual procedure has passed, the stress of the aftermath will kick in. Taking time away from work, caring for their 2 year old, Lucas, prepping meals, ensuring Addison is recovering adequately and getting to follow up appointments, and of course, a huge financial burden. Consider the cost of a major surgery, anesthesia, recovery time in the cardiac ICU, and potential follow up  procedures down the road, all on a teacher’s salary and with the “support” of the N.C. State Employees Health Plan.   Since Addison’s diagnosis, James has not been working as he has taken on the noble role of primary care giver for the babies while Jenn tries to get the school year up and running (at a new school, nonetheless). The Powell family has been so very touched by the outpouring of support expressed through social media, calls and texts. They are thankful for the prayers, well wishes, offers of meals and child care. What they really need the most now to help lessen their burden is our financial support.  If you know them at all, you know they’d never ask for help!  Please consider contributing to this fund to help lighten the load of Addison’s overwhelming medical bills. James and Jenn are a generous, loving couple that would do anything for their friends!  There are so many of us that love them,  and if we could all just contribute a little, it would impact them in such a huge and meaningful way.
