Stride to Home: 100 Days of Running Alongside Azra's Journey Home
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
I am Salih, and I am writing to you today to share the story of my niece, Azra Sena Soyer, a courageous 11-year-old girl who is fighting B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
Azra has been battling leukemia since September 2022. She has faced numerous challenges along the way, but her determination and breakthroughs in medical science have given us hope.
As Azra's journey continues, I am embarking on a 100-day running challenge to raise money for her care. I will be running 5 kilometers each day, starting on August 9, 2023 (Wednesday). This daily stride embodies Azra's unwavering spirit and our collective journey to bring her home.
Azra's path has been marked by both victories and obstacles. Although initial treatments did not yield the expected results, a ray of hope emerged through CAR-T therapy, leading her into full remission. However, challenges remain. Azra continued to undergo regular medical check-ups to monitor her condition and the status of her T-cells. The recent tests have raised concerns, and it was decided that Azra would receive a bone marrow transplant as a result of the ongoing tests.
Azra's parents, Gonca and Mehmet Soyer, her brother and donor Melih, and her aunt Fatma Betül have steadfastly supported her, providing unwavering love throughout this challenging journey.
We established this fund to alleviate the financial strain accompanying Azra's ongoing care. Donations will cover diverse expenses, including at-home assistance, transportation to medical facilities, and medical costs not covered by insurance. Additionally, these funds will nurture Azra's well-being, offering her comfort and resources to face the road ahead.
The strength of a community is boundless, proven by Azra's journey. Together, through my 100-day running challenge and your contributions, we can uplift Azra's spirits, equip her with the resources she needs, and stand united against leukemia. Each step I take signifies progress toward brighter days and a future brimming with promise.
