Our rescue dog Aysa is currently hospitalized, and we’re honestly devastated. We spent the entire night calling every vet we could find, but no one would take her without a $2,000 down payment. Meanwhile, Aysa had been vomiting since the early morning of 12/8, every 20–30 minutes, for nearly 24 hours straight before we could get her into a vet. Each time, the vomit got darker until early this morning we saw that terrifying “coffee grounds” color. That meant she was bleeding internally and needed emergency help NOW.

She finally got into the vet and went into emergency surgery around 2 PM today. The vet originally thought she had swallowed a toy, but once they opened her up, they discovered something much worse, severe chronic stomach ulcers and extremely thickened, inflamed stomach tissue that looked like a mass. These ulcers were bleeding into her stomach and causing her to vomit blood. Her gums were pale, and she could barely stand without help.

During surgery, she also began bleeding from her nose. The vet is now concerned she developed aspiration pneumonia from all the nonstop vomiting. Because of everything going on, Aysa has to stay in the hospital for at least two nights on IV fluids and medications. She’s far too sick to come home right now.

Aysa will likely need lifelong special food and stomach medication even after she’s discharged. We are doing absolutely everything we can for her, but this has already gone far beyond what we can afford, and were worried that the costs are going to keep piling up.

If you’re able to help at all, it would mean the world to us and to Aysa. She is our baby girl and seeing her like this has been completely heartbreaking. Thank you so much to everyone who has checked on us and sent love.

Her care is going to cost more than $2,500 but we think we can manage the rest if we can get some financial relief. A family member let us use their credit card and we need to pay them back ASAP - they already have a lot going on and I don't want to add to their stress.
