Ayn experienced a particularly intense and prolonged episode of vertigo a few months ago. On Friday, she attended her follow-up MRI, hoping for reassurance. However, the results arrived sooner than expected, with a call from her doctor just hours after the appointment—never good news. What began as an ordinary day quickly transformed into a series of surprises and questions: a diagnosis of a brain tumor.

Many of us know Ayn in various ways—her love for horses, her passion for caring for hair, and her vibrant personality. For over 30 years, she has been a valued member of the Springfield, Eugene, and surrounding communities. Her next steps are uncertain and undoubtedly challenging. Ayn faces a lengthy journey ahead, but it is one filled with hope. Yesterday, she was transferred from our local emergency room to OHSU, where she is receiving excellent care from a dedicated team. She is scheduled to undergo surgery at OHSU this week to remove the tumor, which is a complex procedure given its location in her brain.
