AXEL (FINALLY) GOT ADOPTED!

Axel is the sweetest 3-year-old boy cat and he wants nothing more than a lap to sit on, a window to look out of, maybe a fake Sherpa rug to lounge on, and some playtime — he especially loves catnip.

He loves lazing in the sun, mealtime, and the great indoors, having been a colony cat living outside for his first few years.

Axel first appeared in a Brooklyn backyard in March 2024, where he joined a small colony of three cats. Over time, and with steady food and affection, Axel became very loving, often running to greet his caretaker and allowing them to carry him to the food dish. It was adorable. Once he began to meow at his caretaker outdoors, they knew it was time — no more winters outside for Axel!

Axel made a swift transition from outdoors to indoors. He was about to be adopted when he went to the vet for updated vaccines and a SNAP test for FIV and FeLV. Unfortunately, he tested positive for both. It was heartbreaking for me as his caretaker, but his status didn't change the fact that he’s a loving cat who deserves a loving home. He was tested for FeLV with an IDEXX PCR test and has a very low viral load.

After 1,744 views on PetFinder Pro, Axel, one of the most loving and sweet lap cats ever, finally got an adoption inquiry with a family from Connecticut with one double positive Siamese flame point lady cat. This is the best news ever!

Now we have one more hurdle: a round of bloodwork and urinalysis ($398), a car ride four hours away from Brooklyn to Connecticut with an overnight stay at an Airbnb ($240) as we won't be able to drive back the same day we drop him off.

Update on Slim:
If you have helped in the past and remember Slim, he is also in foster care at the moment, and I'd like to provide some food for him to his foster mom, who is working part-time after being laid off last year. She wants to adopt him but with her job situation at the moment, Slim is still in foster. He also needs to go back to the vet for updated shots and a check-up. I will also do a separate GoFundMe for him at a later date.

Thank you again for all of your help. I could not help these kitties without you.

Thank you for your help in this final step.
