Help Axelle's Goal to Revive Our Educational Center in Gabon

Hi, I am Axelle Okouressila. I am president and founder of the Colombe & Brebis NGO in Gabon. We provide social and community services to the young and old, men and women, students and orphans, in the Owendo Municipality, Libreville, Gabon.

We do so with the bare hands and strength of our people and little resources, since 2019!

I am fundraising to help rehabilitate our town's only educational and health center. The center started deteriorating three years ago. We continue using it like that, but now it has become unpracticable, unhealthy, or dangerous due to the now rusty structures. There is a lot of humidity, toilets don’t work, and the electricity cable was cut. It is difficult to teach with the heat as it gets too hot in the classroom. Instead of going to school, children prefer staying with their parents, and reaching other centers or educational programs is too expensive for them. This center, if rehabilitated, remains their only viable option.

This center used to be a center of literacy, computer training, nursing training, vocational training, and women and youth empowerment. As you see from the photo, the paint deteriorated, and the center lacks materials like computers, chairs, projectors, wheelbarrows, shovels, boxes, gloves, and rakes. We need protective shoes that we use for environmental protection days or campaigns. Our people work for free, but without appropriate materials, they are exposed to risk and diseases without protective materials.

Our solution: We need to raise an estimated $14,370 USD by mid-December 2024, when we plan to conduct the rehabilitation during the holidays when all the community can help.

How the funds will be used:

60% of the funds will be used to rehabilitate the building and infrastructure.

20% to support the local people who are going to help do this task.

20% for the pavement and parking rehabilitation, and any other unexpected fees.

To complete the equipment after rehabilitation, we need to increase the stock of books and used computers and laptops. Therefore, if you know any business that has used computers or that can donate books, we will also appreciate it and send it to the country.

Finally, I feel sad because of all the difficulties we face daily to help our children reach their goals in the community to be educated and brilliant in society. At the same time, I am excited about all we can achieve with your contribution. Please help us reach this goal.
