Hi everyone, my name is Avia Thomas. I’m a writer and filmmaker from Oakland, California, and a San Francisco State University alum with a Degree in Cinematography. I’m currently in DAY 2 :) of production on my first short film called “Empty Words.”

It has been incredible to see this story begin to come to life with such a passionate cast and crew.

This film tells a story about love, commitment, and the moment when one decision can change everything. It closley follows two people who genuinely want to build a future together, but when a critical choice is made, or avoided — their entire relationship shifts.

I actually wrote this story about three years ago, and bringing it to life has been a huge step in my journey as a filmmaker. For a long time I struggled with imposter syndrome, but this project represents me finally giving myself permission to be seen and to share the stories I’ve been writing, some for the past three years, and some for over fifteen.

Because this is an independent, self-funded project, I’m asking for a little support from my community to help us finish the film the right way.
