Hello everyone, my name is Avia Dayes and I am a Jamaican living in New York.

I know you all must heard of hurricane Mellisa and what it did to Jamaica, well it made landfall literally at my backdoor. My entire family lives in Negril Westmoreland and it damaged most of our homes. Plus while all this was going on my baby sister/ my only sister was feeling sick, she was rushed to the hospital in time where she underwent emergency surgery as they found an obsess in her tummy, it was so bad because it gave her an infection which damaged her bowel. So through all this she was alone at the hospital as my family has to rush home before the eye hit and boy were they hit hard. Jamaica has never experienced a hurricane like this and I Thank God that through it all no lives were lost. My family will need help in alot of ways but rebuilding will be the first in the list

My aim for this Gofundme is to help rebuild my family's house and try to give them back a sense of normalcy and a comfortable place for my sister to recuperate and heal. I am doing this especially for my 2 youngest siblings because they deserve the world and if I had it they would've gotten it so now I'm asking my extended family to help me give that to them.
