Support Ava's Journey with Muscular Dystrophy
Donation protected
Madison and I have been friends for over 10 years. On March 3, 2024, her and her husband Cody welcomed their third baby, Ava Allena. It was a traumatic birth for both Madi and sweet Ava.
In the months following, they had many appointments for Ava due to difficulty gaining weight and low muscle tone. In April, they saw a neurologist who ordered an MRI. At that time, they were thinking Cerebral Palsy. That MRI turned out to be completely normal! In June, she started physical therapy and also had to get casts on her feet to help with her ankles.
Ava had genetic testing done. In September, the results came back as LAMA2 muscular dystrophy. Certainly not the results they were hoping for.
Even during all of this, this family has praised God's goodness, knowing He has a plan for them, even if it’s not the plan they thought. His ways are higher!
This week (first of 2025), the Owenby family took a trip to Cincinnati to the children’s hospital for additional testing and to see specialists. Overall, this trip went well. However, the equipment needed to help sweet Ava thrive and be the best she can be is VERY expensive.
I am making this to help raise funds that will go towards this equipment and any costs that arise for Ava.
Thank you for considering! They desire your prayers above all.
1/15/24 UPDATE: they were able to get bipap, suction, & cough assist due to Ava’s most recent hospital stay. Those are all very helpful to her. They are still in need of oscillating vest and nebulizer, in addition to the mobility equipment.
