Support Ava Lou McClellan’s Journey to Healing
Our SSMC family is coming together to support one of our own during an incredibly difficult and emotional time.
Ava Lou McClellan, the beloved granddaughter of Tony McClellan and niece of Troy Rutherford, recently faced a sudden and serious medical emergency.
Just two weeks ago, on a night already marked by loss for the family, Ava was rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe and uncontrollable seizures. Due to the level of care she needed, she was transferred from Panama City to the Studer Family Children's Hospital in Pensacola.
Just after being moved to Pediatric ICU, the doctors said the seizures seem to be resistant to the medicines, and Ava's continuing to have both visible and non visible seizures. She developed an infection in her respiratory system and brain. During this time, Ava lost movement on the left side of her body and required intensive medical support, including being placed in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator for 6 days. Her condition has been critical, and her family has remained by her side every step of the way.
In the midst of this, there have been small but powerful signs of progress. Ava is now beginning to respond—she has been able to drink from a straw, eat small amounts, and even share moments of laughter with her family again. These milestones are bringing hope during an otherwise overwhelming time.
As Ava continues her recovery, the next step will be transferring her to Jacksonville, where specialists can provide the rehabilitation she needs to regain strength and movement. This journey will require ongoing care, therapy, and time.
We are raising funds to help support Ava and her family with medical expenses, travel, and the many unforeseen costs that come with long-term care and recovery.
If you feel led to give, any amount will make a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping Ava and her family in your thoughts and prayers is deeply appreciated.
Thank you for surrounding this family with love, support, and encouragement during this time.
