My name is Autumn. I'm a single lady in my 40s. Last year, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer. Like many ladies, I went through the surgery to remove the cancer. Filled with optimism, hope, and prayers, I believed I would be okay. At first, it seemed as though it was a success. It took me 8 weeks to recover. I was not able to work at my job as an early childhood development teacher, a career I have had for 20 years. I healed and returned to work. However, I had just made it back to work when I was given the news that unfortunately, my cancer had spread to my lungs and my left leg. I spent 4 weeks in the hospital, unable to breathe, and the tumor in my leg has caused my left leg to be unusable. I was able to make it out of the hospital after the care of the wonderful staff at Barnes Hospital. I'm unable to work and have bills like any 40-year-old woman would have. Like many teachers at early childhood facilities, insurance is not provided to their employees. I have been forced to have government insurance/Obama care. I'm in a predicament financially and medically. My 70-year-old dad is currently my primary caregiver. A retired teamster on a fixed income, he is doing a great job. He doesn't leave my side. We are not asking to get rich; we just need help for financial survival. It's not easy navigating federal and state help. It's a joke how hard it is to get for someone who actually needs it. I need help to pay for medical and debt to allow me time to fight this disease until I can work again. I hope and pray that I can overcome this. Please help me and my family navigate this impossible situation, so that I can focus on my fight and not the financial burden a situation like this puts on so many women every year. Thank you for reading this and thanks for your help.
