Support Autumn in her Journey to Beat AML
Donation protected
Wyatt and Autumn are HIgh School sweethearts and after graduating, Wyatt went on to become a Firefighter/Paramedic and Autumn, an aspiring Veterinarian. This sweet couple was married this past June, but beginning in late fall, Autumn began fighting an unknown illness that would lead them into a season that neither could have seen coming. At the beginning of the year, following multiple ER visits, Autumn was admitted to the hospital for pancytopenia (Low red and white blood cells and low platelets) and remained there for a month. During this time her symptoms prompted tests such as bone marrow biopsies, a PET scan, CTs, and multiple blood tests. These tests were inconclusive and Autumn was sent to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota only to be told that they were not sure as well what was causing her to be so sick. Discouraged, but not defeated, they were sent home.
While at home Autumn continued to experience dangerously low blood cell counts, high fevers, night sweats, pain, fatigue and nausea. She had a couple of doctors appointments a week and many blood transfusions, yet no one had a diagnosis and it was months spent simply treating symptoms.
A new set of serious symptoms, including debilitating bone pain, sent her to the ER on 4/30/23 in Manhattan, KS where she was promptly transferred to KU Medical Center in Kansas City. New blood testing, bone marrow biopsy, and genetic testing revealed the previously hidden condition and now this illness finally has a name, AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) FLT 3. She was diagnosed this past Tuesday, 5/9/23, to the shock of us all, and now is ready to fight the battle to beat the odds of this terrible diagnosis. She is facing at least a 5 to 6 month hospital stay while undergoing Chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.
This is a precious young couple that has had their life turned upside down and all their dreams put on hold. But they still have hope, faith that runs deep, and a devotion to each other that will see them through.
It is hard enough to stop life and battle an illness, but to worry about jobs, lost wages, mounting medical bills, travel expenses, food, etc… just adds to their burden and we would like to help ease this some for them. If you cannot give monetarily at this time, please pray for them. Prayer is powerful and they are watched over by a mighty God. They have already been so humbled by the outpouring of love shown by so many. Thank you.
