Hi all! Last week our friends, Autumn and Evan, faced an unprecedented situation with their housing and need to relocate immediately. You might have seen on the news, but unfortunately their apartment was used as a breaching point to apprehend their neighbor in an 8 hour stand off with the police. The SWAT team had to drill holes in their walls to feed into the next unit and then was gassed with CS gas. Everything they own needed to be cleaned by a professional hazmat team or laundered in industrial sized washing machines or just plain replaced.

They have been trying to break their lease for months because of the neighbor and after this incident decided just to take the loss and leave as soon as they could find a place. On top of everything, their renters insurance claim was denied due to the nature of the damage. So nothing they’ve already spent money on will be reimbursed.

They luckily found a new apartment and are moving in this week, but this whole ordeal has cost them thousands out of their own pocket. They were supposed to be on vacation this week but decided to cancel in favor of getting their life back to some semblance of normalcy. Unfortunately, they were unable to get reimbursed for their flights or hotel rooms.

I'm hoping that we can come together as a community and help our friends get back on their feet after this insane situation. It’ll be a long journey ahead but hopefully with a little support it can be an easier one!
