Help Sweet Austyn Fight Through Open-Heart Surgery
Hi everyone,
We are humbly reaching out on behalf of the Walker family—a loving, God-fearing family in Texas who is about to face one of the most difficult seasons of their lives.
Their sweet 3-year-old daughter, Austyn Walker, has been bravely fighting a long list of critical heart and genetic conditions since birth. Austyn was born with Turner syndrome, and her journey has been filled with specialist visits, hospital stays, and countless tears.
She has been diagnosed with:
• Bicuspid Aortic Valve
• Tubular Coarctation of the Aorta
• Patent Ductus Arteriosus
• Partial Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return
• Muscular Ventricular Septal Defect
• Secondary Hypertension
• Developmental Delays
…and more.
On June 12, Austyn will have a heart surgery consultation, and her open-heart surgery will be scheduled within days following that appointment.
Her little body has already endured so much—headaches, high blood pressure, and even moments where she grabs her chest in pain, trying to “calm herself down.” No child should have to know that kind of fear.

But this story gets even heavier…
Austyn’s baby brother, Joseph, who is just 12 months old, was recently diagnosed with Waardenburg Syndrome Type 4 (Shah type)—a rare and severe genetic condition that affects his hearing, digestive system (Hirschsprung’s disease), and includes a DNMT1 gene mutation.
Just recently, Joseph had major surgery where ¾ of his colon was removed. Since then, his care has required intense daily maintenance—his mother has to perform dilations at home twice a day to keep his colon stretched and help him pass bowel movements. If not done carefully, he is at high risk for a bowel obstruction, which could be life-threatening.
Joseph’s struggles began early. He spent 21 days in the NICU as a newborn, and the family still hasn’t financially recovered from that time. Back then, Nathan took PTO to be with his son—but those days were never fully covered or paid back by his employer. Now, with Austyn’s surgery looming, they’re facing the same financial burden all over again not even a year later.

The Financial Burden
Nathan, the father, works full-time but will need to take time off again to be present for Austyn’s surgery and recovery. Alyssa, a full-time stay-at-home mom, pours all of her time and love into caring for all three children—Mia, Austyn, and Joseph.
Nathan’s PTO won’t stretch far enough to cover the mortgage, utilities, travel costs, and daily expenses over the next two months. The Walkers are doing everything they can to stay afloat—but they need our help.
They are clinging to their faith in God, trusting Him in every moment, but the financial reality is overwhelming.
