Hey there, I’m Austin! I recently took a rough spill while riding my electric longboard, trying to save on gas and get around in a fun way. On my way to my boyfriend’s house, I was on my way along the bike path under the bridge near West 11th when I came across some obstacles I couldn’t avoid in time. Unfortunately, I crashed hard, landing on my leg and fracturing my femur right off my hip bone.

Thanks to an amazing surgeon, I now have a few screws and anti-rotation hardware keeping my hip together. The surgery went well, but recovery’s going to be a journey. I was going about 20 mph when I fell, so I’m looking at three months off work to heal properly. That means no income for rent or bills during this time, which is pretty daunting.
