Support Austin's Mission to Memorialize Graves
Donation protected
My name is Austin Lawrence and I am a paranormal investigator. In the city of Winchester, Indiana lies a beautiful place called the Randolph County Asylum. The asylum was built as a poor farm for those down on their luck to have a place to work and stay. Far too many times the asylum was also home to the "undesirables" within society as well. Whether it be a child with a speech impediment or someone with some sort of deformity, the asylum welcomed them in with open arms. After spending much time investigating this location I have gained a huge respect for the location and those who lived there. This is what leads me to asking you to help raise funds for this project.
On the asylum grounds lies unmarked graves. It is believed that there are at least 50 if not many more. There is no documentation stating where exactly where these graves lie so there are no markings to memorialize the final resting place of these past residents, I want to change that. I have reached out to someone who performs ground penetrating radar to find lost graves and they are more than willing to come out and help us locate these graves so that we can memorialize these people and give them the respect that they deserve. For him to come out he simply charges for travel expenses then asks for a donation to the historical society that he works at. I would like to raise at least $2,000 to cover expenses for his 5 hour drive and to be able to give a nice donation to the historical society. By supporting this fundraiser, you are supporting two great causes. I am in no way affiliated with the asylum, this is just a project that I feel really strongly about and want to see happen. Unfortunately after multiple tornados and things popping up with these old properties, it is difficult for the owners to allocate funds for such a project at this time although they would love to. That is where we come in with a chance to give back not only to the people who are working hard and diligently to preserve this history but also to those who lived it.
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to consider giving to this cause and if you are unable, please consider giving it a share. Together, we can make great things happen. We can preserve history and make sure that no one goes forgotten. Below is a list of people who documentation exists that they are buried on the property:
