After getting an MRI of a cyst on the top of their sweet Aurora’s head, Hannah and Dakota got the devastating news that the cyst had gone through the skull and into her brain, very close to some blood vessels and into her soft spot. She will now require brain surgery, cutting through her skull to remove the cyst.
Rory will have a week long hospital stay and journey to recover, all the proceeds are to help the Sylcox family with medical expenses, meals and any other financial needs that will come about. I’m praying this will bless them and lift off some of the outside burdens so they can focus on their baby girl and their family through this time.
If you can’t financially give I know your prayers will mean the most
Update from Hannah on 10/8:
We have a positive update on Aurora:
After the neurosurgeon had a chance to review the MRI and the CT, he concluded that the incision to remove the cyst will not be as massive as we were originally told. This is such positive news to us and a huge answer to prayer. This means the recovery won't be as major or extensive either.
We just want to say thank you all once again for the outpouring of love and care for Aurora and our whole family. We are deeply touched by all the generosity. This helps us with our hospital bills and the time Dakota has taken off and will have to take off for surgery. The surgery is TBD - they will be calling me to schedule it, so I will update once we know for continued prayers.
The risks of this surgery are bleeding due to the large blood vessel that runs where the cyst is, risk of anesthesia and being put under, and because it is in the dura mater (the protective layering of the brain), they aren't sure how deep the roots go or how much dura might be removed with it or how much bone they will need to remove in that area to get it out.
We aren't completely in the clear, but God really answered our prayers with this, and we are just so thankful. He is so good.
