Support Aurora De Leon in her Recovery

Hi everyone, my name is Marla, and I’m asking for help for my 77-year-old mom, Aurora. On March 23rd, she called me while I was out running errands. She had fallen in her bedroom and was stuck on the floor for over 30 minutes. I rushed home and found her scared and in pain. It broke my heart to see her like that.

The next day, her ankle was very swollen and hurting a lot. We went to the hospital, and doctors said her ankle was broken in three places. She had surgery on March 27th and has been staying in a nursing home to get better.

She will be coming home on April 14th, but she still can’t walk or take care of herself. Insurance will cover her physical therapy, but she still needs help every day. Like walking, getting dressed, bathing, and eating. Her goal is to walk again and regain some of her independence, but recovery will take time and daily support.

Unfortunately, on April 8th, I had emergency surgery for appendicitis. I can’t go back to work for at least two weeks, and I’m still very weak. It’s hard for me to even move around the house, and I won’t be strong enough to help my mom when she comes home. That’s why we need help to hire a caregiver to keep her safe while I heal too.

Before all of this, my mom had two strokes. They left her very weak, and she needs a walker just to move around. This fall has made everything worse. Every day is hard for her, just standing or walking takes a lot of effort.

Currently, it’s just been me and my mom after the loss of my dad in 2020. We depend on each other every day.

My mom is one of the kindest and most giving people I know. Her whole life, she’s taken care of everyone around her. Always putting others first, even when she was hurting or tired. She never thinks twice about helping someone in need. Now, she’s the one who needs help. It’s her turn to be cared for, the way she has cared for so many others.

We are raising funds to help cover the cost of hiring a caregiver who can keep my mom safe and cared for while she continues to heal. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference during this difficult time and allow her to focus on her goal of being able to walk on her own again.

Please consider donating and sharing this with others to support my mom. Let’s come together and show my mom, Aurora, just how much she is loved. Let’s help her feel safe, supported, and cared for, just as she has always done for others.
