Our daughter, Aurélia, was diagnosed with Fibrolamellar Carcinoma (FLC) in April 2024, after two years of unexplained symptoms. FLC is a rare solid tumor cancer, occurring in only one in five million people; it is even rarer in her age group.

As part of her fight, Aurélia has undergone chemotherapy, every two weeks, since her diagnosis. She has also gone through innumerable scans, procedures, symptoms, and side effects. As you can imagine, this has taken an emotional and physical toll on her.

She is so brave in facing medical appointments that cause so much anxiety. Her body carries bruises, scars, and distress that isn't visible to us. This situation has caused her much grief and sadness. Aurélia is a bright, gifted, and deeply astute human being. She is our only child, and the joy of our home.

Our lives have shifted dramatically in the last few years. We are working less, understandably so, in order to be present for Aurélia at each appointment, procedure, and treatment. This school year, we chose to homeschool her, for her comfort and ease.

FLC has no standard treatment, which distinguishes it from more common pediatric cancers. It has been a long road so far, and we do not know how long it will last. After navigating this situation within our means (physical, emotional, and financial) for two years, we are realizing that we should reach out to our community. We humbly ask for your support to help cover medical expenses, treatment, travel, and bills. We find ourselves stretched in energy, time, and finances.
