Support Aunty Sharon: Son Still Missing

If you've marched in any protest or been involved in just about any cause that supports the Indigenous rights of the Hawai'ian people or the protection of our aina and keiki, then, you probably know Aunty Sharon already.

For those of you who do not, she is a former teacher who regularly gives of her time and effort to support those in the community that need it. Including the causes that affect them. When I think of someone who understands the importance of community and does what she can to strengthen it, I think of Sharon.

Three weeks ago, Aunty Sharon's son, Jahred went missing. All that has been found is his kayak, which, was adrift in Keauhou Bay. An all out search effort was made, but, so far, there are no answers.

May no one reading this ever have to understand the torture of a situation such as this. Feeling driven and COMPELLED to do something to find your loved one, but, not having an idea of what to do that hasn't been done. Not knowing. The one million terrifying scenarios that cross your mind hourly. It is enough to drive one mad and not something anyone should have to endure.

We all know the difficulties in making ends meet on the island. Like most of us, Aunty Sharon depended on the financial contributions of her son to cover her monthly expenses. She deals with a chronic health condition and was looking for a new job that could accommodate her condition and already facing tough times when Jahred went missing. She and Jahred had also been working together to chip away at what remained of the substantial medical bills from his great white shark attack just a few years back, in addition to a few lingering repair bills for his truck that have added up.

Now, things are dire and she really needs the community she's given so much to, to give her her turn to receive. She needs just a handful of us to send whatever financial assistance we can. Let's help so she does not have to worry about paying bills as she is understandably paralyzed with the grief from such an unfathomably difficult situation.

Our hearts go out to the Hind family, who is bearing the same burden.

Please, even if you cannot give, interact with the post by leaving a comment, or sharing so that it can reach more people and help her reach her goal.

Please, let us all imagine the day Jahred returns to her as if it is a certainty and say all the prayers we can for her and him.

Thank you in advance for your consideration and any help you are able to offer, even if it's just sharing and commenting. It all helps.
