Support Auntie Suz and Family After Waialua Flood

Donation protected
3/20/26, 2am I wake up to water flooding my bathroom floor. By 4am my daughter convinces me we have to evacuate as the entire house is flooded and the water is rising.

We packed my daughter's car with "essentials", got my granddaughter into her car seat and braved the river that was Waialua Beach Road thinking we could navigate the river. Almost immediately we failed. Her car died and filled with water as we struggled to get out of the car into waist deep water, pitch black skies and freezing cold rainy weather.

911 couldn't help us but some wonderful local folks rescued us with their bulldozer and took us to shelter at Waialua High School. Soon after arriving at WHS, we were evacuated via The Bus to higher ground, Wahiawa District Park.

My little house is uninhabitable and the remnants of my belongings are now in storage as I look for a new place to live and my daughter looks for a new car.

Our experience was harrowing and extremely traumatic but we are grateful to be alive and surrounded by so much love and support.

I have created this Go Fund Me to raise money to help my daughter and myself recover from the recent Kona Low Storm. Any donations received will go to my moving and storage expenses, a security deposit once a new home is found, a new bed, a new television, and new furniture as needed. I was living in Kukea Circle, in Waialua and wish to live somewhere other than the North Shore, preferably closer to my daughter and her family.

Although my daughter has received money from her insurance company, totaling the value of her car before the flood, any remaining donations will go to buying her a new car, as cars are considerably more expensive compared to when her old car was first purchased. Donations will also go to a new car seat for my granddaughter.

Mahalo nui for your consideration and care.

Aloha,
Auntie Suz
