Hi, my name is Cyndee. I created this fundraiser for my boyfriend, August. As the temperature rises in Idaho (and frankly the entire country), we are trying to get funds raised so he can get gender-affirming surgery out of state before that's not an option. August is a trans man who has been on testosterone for 8 years. He has had top surgery (twice, including a revision), all paid for by himself. He is ready for the next step in his journey!

We are working on getting consultations and finding the right doctor. This will be a combination of many different surgeries and is very expensive. It’s done in 2 or more stages, which requires traveling out of state multiple times, taking a minimum of 4 weeks off of work each phase, and recovering for that amount of time in the city of surgery for follow-ups. While insurance does cover some of the cost, there is still lots of travel, loss of work, and the max out-of-pocket expenses that need to be taken care of. In the meantime, he is saving up as much as possible. In light of all things happening, we are hoping to help that happen as quickly as possible.

Living in Idaho is getting more and more dangerous as the state just passed HB 752, which makes using a bathroom that aligns with your gender identity that is different from your sex at birth a misdemeanor on the first offense and a felony for the second.

August is the first person to offer to help when people need it. I want to do what I can to help him reach his goals. He deserves to feel good in his skin.

It's so important for his well-being and mental health to be able to get these surgeries done. Having this gender-affirming surgery will help him live authentically and feel safe.
