Support Audrey’s long road to recovery
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Ellen and I’m reaching out to ask for support for my friend Sammy and her beautiful daughter Audrey. Anyone who knows this family can attest to the strength of their love, compassion and bond.
On Anzac Day, just 3 days before her 2nd birthday, Audrey had emergency surgery to treat suspected Mastoiditis, the surgeons took a biopsy and a week later the results confirmed that Audrey has a rare disease called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis. Where her white blood cells attack her body. Audrey’s LCH presents in her skull and has eaten away both her mastoid bones in the skull. Audrey requires 6 months of chemotherapy delivered by a port that was inserted under her chest.
Audrey attends chemo at the Queensland children’s hospital in Brisbane once a week so Mum Sammy won’t be able to return to work until her treatment is finished , as the family live in Tweed this is a 3 hour return trip each week, and with the cost of the medications Audrey requires and loss of income the costs start piling up. There is also Daphne who is almost 6 months old and Bonnie who is nearly 4 to look after.
Any money donated will go towards the cost of Audrey’s medications, parking and fuel to travel to the hospital, and meals for Daphne and Bonnie to make things easier for the family. Caring for a child on chemotherapy is extremely time consuming and demanding and other children in the family can often get left behind as most of the attention is needed for Audrey.
This fundraiser is to help support this amazing family and help navigate the path ahead.
