Hi there :)
Goal:
- I am asking for your support to help me march my age out this summer at Pacific Crest! I have the opportunity to march on trumpet, and I am thrilled to be marching something new and at a world-class level for DCI. It has been a fight this audition season to find a place for my ageout, and now, thanks to PC, I get to live the dream.
- I also have the opportunity to do a sea turtle field research program in Costa Rica, two weeks after coming back from Indy. I am super excited to embark on a new journey, one more closely related to my academic/career field of interest.
Tuition:
- I need to pay $6,500 for Pacific Crest and around $3,000 for BIOMA, the sea turtle research program. These costs exclude the flight back from Indianapolis (after the season with PC ends) and the flight to and from Costa Rica. This is why I have rounded up to $10,000 as a general goal to help cover costs. I will also be paying for my rent over the summer while I am away, and will not be working, so any support that I can receive is deeply appreciated and beneficial.
Below, I have written a bit more about my passions and life goals to help you understand why you might want to support me financially. Every dollar counts, and if you can't, please do not worry. I appreciate any encouragement, advice, support, and especially prayers. It all counts.
Thank you so much for your time and contribution. Please reach out to me later if you do donate, so I can personally thank you <3 Do not hesitate to ask me any questions and inquire further about where the money goes exactly.
Forever grateful,
Audrey R. Hui
Background:
Marching:
- As you may or may not know, a good portion of my life since 2023, and honestly, since high school, has been dedicated to performing and competing in marching bands and drumlines. In the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to learn a completely new instrument, cymbals, and march at Gold DBC. Since then, I have marched on cymbals with Meraki Percussion (24--25), winning open class gold, breaking records, and making world-class finals. I am currently marching at POW percussion. This activity and participating in it is my whole world. My closest relationships have been made here, I have grown so much as a person, and gotten to live out my greatest passions of the performing arts to the fullest. Since I did not march the past two summers, I really wanted to do something for my ageout. I wanted to make what I have left count and leave with no regrets. I am nervous for sure, learning a new instrument and being a part of brass, but I am so excited because it is genuinely the most beautiful part of DCI.
Science/Engineer:
- I am currently a student at UCR studying Environmental Engineering. My goal in the future is to work in water accessibility and improving infrastructure, but I also hope to work in Marine Biology and Conservation. I am doing whatever I can right now to expand my involvement in the field of Marine Conservation, and attending the BIOMA program is one of those first steps. I am also an undergraduate researcher at UCR, working in a lab that focuses on water quality in the Eastern Coachella Valley, and engineering a water sampling device.
