Friends and Family:
As a family, we’re facing a challenging and life-altering situation that we had hoped and prayed we’d never encounter. Two weeks ago, our sister Audra Jackson White was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. After consulting with her medical team, it has been decided that she will undergo 18-20 weeks of chemotherapy followed by a full mastectomy to address the cancer.
Audra is an incredible single mother who has always worked tirelessly to support her children, balancing long hours to ensure she can be present for their many activities. As a family, we’re doing everything we can to support Audra and her family during this difficult time. Unfortunately, as a self-employed cosmetologist, Audra doesn’t have access to paid sick leave or personal time off. Depending on how she responds to chemotherapy, her ability to work will be limited over the next 18-20 weeks. After her surgery, the doctors anticipate she will need 4-6 weeks to recover before she can return to her work as a cosmetologist.
Those of you who know Audra understand how private she is and how difficult it is for her to ask for help. Nevertheless, we also know that many friends, family, and even strangers are eager to offer support when they learn about someone’s hardship. We recognize that everyone’s financial situation is different and appreciate any assistance you can provide to Audra and her two children as she faces this challenging time. If you’re unable to contribute financially, your prayers, text messages, and phone calls will be greatly valued. Audra will certainly miss her daily interactions with clients while she’s out of work for the next six months.
