Hi, my name is Ashley Wolfe, and I am Audra Shelton's older sister. My baby sister is brave, beautiful, and a fighter. In January 2026, she was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer after a month of medical evaluations.
After much consideration and at the heartfelt requests of friends, family, and patrons wishing to help Audra in this challenging time, I have started this GoFundMe on her behalf—hoping to provide comfort, support, and hope as she faces this battle.
Back Story:
At 34, my sister Audra was pregnant with her second child. At 19 weeks pregnant, she found a lump, which the doctor thought was mastitis. After two rounds of antibiotics and no change, Audra asked for further testing. On December 15, 2025, she had a biopsy of the left breast. This was the beginning of a rapid chain of events:
December 19, 2025: Confirmed 2 lymph nodes affected in the left breast. Doctors had to work around and plan further testing after the baby was delivered. Audra delivered baby Ayzley five weeks early, born January 2, 2026.
January 8, 2026: Return visit to KU - Confirmed 4 lymph nodes affected. Audra also wanted a second opinion from MD Anderson in Houston, TX.
January 27, 2026: Houston, TX, MD Anderson confirmed cancer had spread from the left breast and sightings confirmed in her right lymph nodes. Confirmed 10 lymph nodes affected and indicated the cancer had spread beyond the chest walls. Confirmed Stage 3: Needed further testing to confirm Stage 4. Audra was diagnosed with three different types of breast cancer. Surreal, right? Invasive Lobular Carcinoma (ILC) Histiocytoid Variant and Invasive Carcinoma (IBC) Inflammatory in the left breast and Triple Negative Breast Cancer in the right breast.
February 6, 2026: Houston, TX, MD Anderson for an MRI of the spine and lower abdomen area.
February 16, 2026: Chemo Day 1
February 23, 2026: Chemo Day 2
February 24, 2026: Audra returned to Houston, TX, for further testing and a bone marrow biopsy on February 26.
March 3, 2026: Confirmed Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer, Incurable but Treatable: Completed 3 rounds of chemo at this point. Medical findings were that Audra had a DPYD enzyme issue, which means her body does not properly break down certain types of chemotherapy. Some drugs, “Red Devil,” could cause more “toxicity” and harm than good. And, Audra’s PTEN has a loss-of-function mutation. PTEN normally acts as a “brake” and helps control cell growth. PTEN isn’t doing its job.
March 9, 2026: Chemo Day 4: major hair loss and fatigue
March 16, 2026: Chemo Day 5: Body aches, worn out, tingling in face, numbness in toes, headaches, stomach aches, and nosebleeds.
March 23, 2026: Chemo Day 6: More hair loss and continued fatigue, smells are triggers, and overall not feeling well.
March 28, 2026: Night of Hope Benefit for Audra sponsored by her family.
March 30, 2026: Chemo Day 7
At this point, Audra is still not working; baby Ayzley is approaching three months old; and Greenly is nine and being the best big sister to Ayzley. Our family, cousins, aunts, and some friends have worked since January to build a tiny home for my sister and the girls to live in. In the summer of 2023, Audra’s home caught fire and was burned down. She and Greenly, along with my aunt, lost almost everything. Since 2023, Audra has slowly started to rebuild after the fire.
Really, my sister may never go back to work. This is a very hard truth, but a real reality for her and her girls. At this time, we are beyond thankful and blessed for the love and support of those around us. Our family benefit was a great start to supporting my sister and the girls RIGHT NOW!
What does her future medical look like?
Audra has five more rounds of chemotherapy. She will return to Houston, TX, the first week of May for further scans and to see how she is reacting to treatment thus far. Audra is expected to receive the full breakdown of her bone biopsy prior to this time in TX.
At this time, Audra is working with the doctors while pursuing some holistic treatment options. Focusing on diet and supplements, but ultimately trusting God in the process for complete healing in this stage of metastatic breast cancer. My sister is trusting God fully, going against the odds of this diagnosis.
Her goal is to live her life to the fullest with her girls and family, who love her. Even if the outcome is death or complete healing. Ultimately, she wants to use her journey to help others who may go through something similar.
My sister is fun and carefree; she loves to laugh, ride horses, and be outside. Audra is strong-willed, independent, and self-sufficient. This journey in life has forced her to stop, accept help, and focus on the little things. She has been an amazing aunt to my four children, an amazing younger sister, and a daughter deeply loved by her parents.
Audra has recently found the Lord, and He has surpassed all understanding and given her a peace that is allowing her to enjoy the now and not be overly focused on the what-ifs; however, reality is real, and she will need to keep providing for her two girls and plan for their future.
Really, our family, like any family, would rather have genuine prayers lifted to God, asking for His divine intervention.
Donate, if you have it on your heart, but share her journey, and pray wholeheartedly.
Much love - Big Sis!
