Request for help

I’m writing today about a faithful and courageous 24-year-old. Many of you already know my daughter Aubrey. Over the last few years I’ve talked about her graduating, getting married, moving from Kentucky to Lafayette, starting a new job (two jobs!), and spending time with family and friends. Today I’m sharing something different.

Last week Aubrey was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a blood cancer that starts in the lymphatic system. Aubrey and Grayson are young, still learning, still growing, and greatly anticipating what the future may bring. While this isn’t the battle anyone would choose to face, they’re ready to fight.

With hearts full of faith, we celebrate our blessings. We celebrate God‘s timing. We celebrate that this cancer is now highly treatable. We celebrate that she is under a great oncologist and great care team. We celebrate the love, prayers, and support of family and friends. We ask you to celebrate with us and pray for strength, courage, health, and God‘s will.

In addition to prayers, I humbly ask that if you feel moved and are able, you can help Aubrey and Grayson financially with whatever you deem appropriate. They are blessed to have health insurance, however, we all know how that goes and how quickly out-of-pocket costs pile up. In the last 6 weeks, she’s already had several doctor appointments, over a dozen pokes and blood draws, CT scans, biopsies, two x-rays, one surgery, and lots of missed work. All of this just to diagnose. Treatment is about to begin, and the road to recovery may be long. We are so grateful for the support we have already been shown and I know, as more people come to learn of her disease, the support and prayer chain will grow.

Request from Aubrey: no doom and gloom, no sad emojis, no “I’m so sorry” or any other forms of despair. We are overjoyed to know that treatment success rates for this cancer are very high, and we remain trusting and strong in our faith. So, please, only uplifting messages and positive prayers!
Thank you all, each and every one of you. This journey is just beginning. I pray we learn through it and grow in our love for the Lord.

“Jesus replied, 'You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand." John 13:7
