Atoll Marine Centre is an organisation run by local Maldivian NGO based on Naifaru Island in Lhaviyani Atoll. Our aim is to involve the local community in the protection of the marine environment.
Our international team of Marine Biologists and Veterinarian facilitate the rescue and rehabilitation of injured sea turtles, with the assistance of local interns. We provide a high standard of care and aim to get the turtles healthy and back into the ocean as soon as possible.
Alongside this, we also work to protect Naifaru's surrounding environment, we help restore local coral reefs with our coral garden and we also raise awareness in the local community through outreach sessions at schools and resorts.
We always have turtles at the centre available for adoption. When you choose which turtle you would like to adopt you will receive a personalized adoption certificate as well as updates on your turtle's journey every month. The turtles currently available for adoption are Hope, Cora, Olga, Ahuliha and Zikii.
