Me and my wife are about to give birth to our first, a baby boy named Atlas. Unfortunately, our little Atlas has Spina Bifida, a condition where a portion of his spinal cord bulges from his back. This will require many surgeries immediately after birth and continual care as he grows up, depending on the severity of the condition, which we won’t know at length until he is born.

During this fundraiser, we are spending at least a month, hundreds of miles from home, at Primary Children's hospital in preparation for the birth and then awaiting recovery in NICU. We are confident our monetary goal will help us immensely in his first year of life. With limited resources, we want to focus less on making ends meet and more on nurturing Atlas to grow strong and loved.

Your donations will go towards his first two initial surgeries, one to fix his spinal cord and the other to drain fluid from his brain. A third may be required if his brain continues to flood, placing in a permanent shunt. What is left over will be applied to continual care as Atlas will have monthly checkups and physical therapy to help ensure the doctor's efforts to sustain a long life for him.

With his whole world literally riding on his back, you can see why Atlas was such a perfect name. If you could help lighten that load, my family will be forever grateful.
