Support Atlantis: Fighting Severe Gastroparesis
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Atlantis Andersen, and I am reaching out for help as I battle a severe, life-altering condition that has completely upended my life—gastroparesis and Jackhammer Esophagus. These conditions have left me unable to eat solid food, work, or maintain financial stability due to the overwhelming medical expenses and daily challenges I face.
For those unfamiliar with gastroparesis, it is a disorder that causes delayed stomach emptying, making it nearly impossible for food to move through my digestive system properly. This leads to extreme nausea, vomiting, intense abdominal pain, and malnutrition. In my case, it has progressed to the point where I can no longer eat normally and must rely on total parenteral nutrition (TPN), a method of receiving nutrition through an IV that goes into my heart directly into my bloodstream.
This past year has been nothing short of brutal. From November 27th to December 23 I was hospitalized, fighting my first severe gastroparesis flare. My body became so profoundly malnourished that I had no choice but to start total parenteral nutrition (TPN)—a last-resort lifeline that bypasses my digestive system entirely. While it’s keeping me alive, it comes with life-threatening risks, including bloodstream infections, liver failure, blood clots, and severe metabolic imbalances. Now, every day is a struggle against unrelenting fatigue, nausea, and the ever-present reality that my survival depends on a fragile and risky medical intervention.
Because of my inability to eat or maintain proper nutrition, I have been forced to stop working. I want nothing more than to regain my health and independence, but until then, I am struggling to cover my living expenses and medical costs. On top of everything, malnutrition has severely affected my teeth, and I now need urgent dental care that I cannot afford. I will need a “Bone Graft” surgery on April 17th to get the rest of the remaining infected tissue inside my tooth and unfortunately this surgery cannot wait.
I have never been one to ask for help, but right now, I don’t have any other options. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward:
• Medical expenses (appointments, procedures, hospital visits)
• Basic living expenses (rent, utilities, daily necessities)
• Dental care to repair damage caused by malnutrition
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to me. Even just spreading the word can help me reach more people who might be able to assist.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story, for your kindness, and for any support you can provide. Your generosity means more to me than words can express.
With gratitude,
Atlantis Andersen
