My story -

Hello, my name is Athena Vaughn, a Black homeless transgender woman. I am also a Co-Founder of Trans Resistance MA, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting for the rights of transgender communities in Massachusetts, created after years of work in the community, from Boston Glass to AIDS Action and the transgender coordinator at Fenway Health

Recently, my landlord sold their house back in March, and my new landlords took over, raising my rent from 1650 to 2700. I wasn’t able to handle the increase along with my roommates, who were also stretched thin. Sadly, during this time, I also lost my job due to budget cuts, while experiencing health issues involving a cancer diagnosis, and battling depression.

I have also been taking care of my mother’s dog, who was murdered, Jahaira DeAlto, and I am hoping to get my dog back when I am housed and safe

I am looking to my community to help me get a roof over my head. I have always been someone who offers support and now i need some back to get me off the streets, i’ve been through other options with some people who are unable to support right now, which i understand but this means it is urgent that i receive any donations through my gofundme that can be given, a bed or couch to sleep on for the time we agree on, a hotel room or support to other community organizations who can help me get housed and say housed.

Winter is coming, and I must get support to stay warm and safe. If you can give, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.
