Support Asylum Seeking Family

Hi, I’m starting this GoFundMe for my dear friend Mel and her son Jonah. In 2018, while she was pregnant, Mel traveled to the US with a caravan from Honduras. After being detained for months, Jonah was born, and soon after they made it to New York. Jonah is now 4-years-old, and Mel has throughout been struggling with the difficulties of being an immigrant single mother. The long wait to obtain a work visa and ongoing challenges with childcare have prevented her from holding a steady job.

After a series of terrible setbacks – and with no family with her in the US to support – Mel’s financial situation has become dire. We are trying to raise funds to help Mel afford rent and basics for her and Jonah so they can avoid going into the shelter system. Any amount goes a long way!
