I rescued the sweetest hen I’ve had the chance to meet. Her name is Astraea because of how nurturing, kind and innocent she is. She was rescued from Osage court where she had no food, shelter or water. Her name derives from the goddess Astraea, who was so nurturing, kind and pure. Later she left humanity because of how wicked it was.

I’ve discovered today(after already naming her) she has sour crop. Where she hasn’t had enough water during her stint wandering alone, food is stuck and rotting in a large hard ball above her breasts. I’m afraid even with my intervention, I will need to have my exotic vet come to treat it.

I have never done a go fund me and it hurts me to have to do so but I am hoping to raise some funds to get her treated. She needs early intervention and I have already contacted our vet. The total costs could be upwards or $500. I plan to match donations to ensure she lives.

She deserves to live and see the world isn’t so cruel. I am hopeful to get her treated so she can live her days amongst her new flock.
