Educational Funding for Future Scientists
To quote the words of one of McKel's favorite songs that she often screamed at the top of her lungs:
Had to have high, high hopes for a living
Didn't know how but I always had a feeling
I was gonna be that one in a million
Always had high, high hopes
To honor McKel's love of science and helping others, we want to collect funds to donate to a college savings plan that will be surprise gifted to a deserving recipient... someone who also has high hopes of improving the world.
McKel's dreams were larger than life. She set her dreams on making an impact on the world and changing lives for the better.
Most mornings you would find McKel up at the crack of dawn and sitting at the computer with a notepad, jotting down her next science fair idea, or explaining how she had figured out a way to build an electron microscope that could be more available to the masses to help research. Her main goal was always to find ways to help others. She would excitedly exclaim that she'd thought of a way to detect in utero genetic diseases and fix the genetic coding. She'd call her papa and tell him that she needed help with her idea to help those who are paralyzed to be able to walk again. Taking on finding a cure for cancer was not outside of the realm of possibilities for this girl who dreamed big of saving the world.
With McKel's big dreams of helping people, she also set her goals high with wanting to go to a college that was the best of the best for science and bioengineering. When she researched these colleges and saw the cost, she could not bear the thought of putting that financial burden on anyone. McKel then started going to the library to research what scholarships were available. Then she'd come home with notebooks full of her scolarship research.
When someone asked McKel what her 'why' is in life, she said without hesitation... I want to help people.
McKel would often ask for ways to earn money, but only so that she could help someone else. McKel's bank account seemed to only have withdrawals that went to help other people... a favorite drink or snack for a friend, a funny, thoughtful gift that would cheer someone up, an article of clothing that she knew they wanted but couldn't afford... McKel unconditionally loved and helped others. This was her purpose.

Manifest destiny...
Light up your wildest dreams
Museum victories, every day
Just picture McKel singing exhuberantly...
They say it's all been done but they haven't seen the best of me-e-e-e!!!
So I got one more run and it's gonna be a sight to see-e-e-e!!!
