Hi all! My name is Asia. I am a mother of 2 kiddos, ages 4 and 3. My partner and I have been subject to housing discrimination and have experienced an increase in rent twice this year. We are now unable to continue to live in this space for the upcoming year and need to relocate in order to stay financially secure. Currently, we are experiencing financing issues that come with the moving process and are asking for help. As a parent who works part-time while also being a full-time student, my family is already plagued with the low fund epidemic. Tacking on the cost of moving to the cost of daycare, day-to-day spending, and other bills makes it virtually impossible to keep up. We need help from our community to make sure we maintain a space for us to feel safe and secure. We understand that this can be a lot to ask for, especially since we are not the only Black family dealing with this in the Portland metro area and the fact that it is the holidays, but if we don’t ask for help, we’ll never know what kind of blessing we’re missing or what kind of help someone would be willing to provide. Resources are also welcome, as we cannot be selective with how we receive assistance due to the timely manner we need to be prepared for our move (2 weeks).
We appreciate you taking the time to read through and share our story.
Blessings unto you all.
