SUPPORT ASIAN TEEN THAT FOUGHT BACK AGAINST RACIST

Today, on July 25th 2021, I was walking down the corner of Bowery and Doyer St. in Chinatown NYC when I witnessed a racist man on his bike spewing anti-Asian sentiments after an apparent fit of road rage, i.e "F*ck Chinese", "Chinese c*nts", "All of you can go back to China, I could give a rats a**", etc. ( https://youtu.be/EFPhD548K4k ) Suddenly, a good samaritan had enough of hearing him yell at the Asian citizens and innocent elders passing by and, with his own courage, stepped up to punch him in the head.

Afterwards, the racist man rode off and the good samaritan left the scene to avoid trouble with the police, however I was so in awe of his bravery I caught up to him to see if he was okay. We spoke for a bit, about himself and the anti-asian racism that's been happening in the city. His hands were red and his headphones broke from the tussle. He is 18 years old and was just on his way to work. I am still amazed at his bravery and was so grateful he was willing to stand up to such bigotry. He was so kind and humble and said he didn't want any attention, but I felt that he deserved some praise so I just decided to take his contact info and set up a little place for donation for his troubles and to replace his headphones!!

Anti-Asian hate is nothing new, but racists have truly been revealing themselves amidst the start of the pandemic. These attacks and disgusting sentiments have been so prevalent in New York City, a place of diversity. It's great to see someone stick up for not just themselves, but a whole community.
