Support Ashton’s recovery…long road ahead
Donation protected
On Sunday April 6th, 2025 Caledonia boy, Ashton Chatham, was seriously burned in a kitchen fire at his home. While he heroically saved his mother, sister and girlfriend from injury, Ashton sustained serious (2nd & 3rd degree) burns over 25% of his body. He has been admitted to the Burn Unit at the Hamilton General Hospital. Ashton has already undergone 2 skin graft surgeries and has a prolonged and uncertain road to recovery ahead of him.
Ashton was scheduled to return to his summer job at Monthill Golf Course in May and is enrolled at Mohawk College in September to prepare for a career as an electrician. Right now his future is uncertain as to when he will be able to return to normal daily life. In one brief moment, at the age of 18, everything changed for Ashton and his family.
Ashton is a kind, selfless and loving soul. Growing up, he was an active member of the Caledonia Thunder Hockey family. He’s shown incredible bravery and strength, but right now he needs our help so he can focus on healing. We are raising funds to support:
~Ashton’s recovery and medical needs
~his living expenses (car payment, insurance)
~financial relief for his mother, who has not left his side and has missed work to help care for him. In addition, Ashton’s Mom and sister have been displaced by the fire, which has resulted in additional unexpected costs.
Even the smallest donation will help ease the added stress of the financial burden on Ashton and his family and allow them to focus on Ashton’s recovery. Please donate if you’re able and please share their story. Every kind word matters. Thank you for your support.
