Support Ashten’s Gold Quest at Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics

Hello Everyone!

Are you ready to help make me a history?

I am Ashten Johnson and on a mission to bring home a gold in Greco-Roman at the 25th Summer Deaflympics Tokyo. I won the Bronze medal for 87KG Greco-Roman Wrestling at the 2022 Deaflympics in Caxias do Sul, Brazil. Now, I am gearing up to compete against the world's best wrestlers in Tokyo, Japan. I am proud to representing the USA Deaf Wrestling for USA Deaf Sports Federation (USADSF) as a USA Sports Registered player. However, I need your support to cover the fees for the competition, including training, flights, and accommodation. Your support will help me to achieve my longstanding dreams to win gold medal and continue make history in the world of Deaf Wrestling.

Background:

I have been wrestling since 5 years old, with my younger brother Demeteris Johnson training alongside me, and my father, Larrick Johnson, coaching us both. As a Deaf athlete in a hearing world, I have faced unique challenges that require a different kind of focus and determination. Unlike most wrestlers who go into a match hearing the sounds of the coach directing what to do next, teammates, opponents, and the loud surroundings of the crowds. I led by myself, visual surroundings, signs he may catch from the coach, and the countless hours of training that have shown my pure motivation and drive for the love of wrestling. I have proven time and time again that I am up for the challenge, winning over 100 matches and three State qualifications during my high school career alone. I have pushed barriers time and time again, each time pushing the barriers a little further. Showing to be a pure role model for Deaf children, showing that you too can, with motivation and drive, push the limits!

Currently:

I am the wrestler for USA Deaf Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling. I have a quality as true leader on and off the mat, inspiring my teammates and breaking down barriers for Deaf athletes everywhere.

Goal:

My goal is to raise $6000 to cover the fees for the 2025 Summer Deaflympics. Any additional funds raised will go towards supporting my journey to the Deaf Wrestling World Championships 2027, where he hopes to win two Gold medals and belts, as well as interpreter fees, team, and coach fees.

Travel Dates:

Ashten and the team will be leaving on November 11th and returning on November 23rd.
