UPDATE 7/29/25
After my consultation with several practices in both North and South Carolina, I've learned a couple of things- the main piece being, most of these practices don't accept insurance. Like, at all. I thought finally having a job with insurance would really aid me with this process- turns out, it doesn't even matter at all.

The quotes I've been given from these practices range anywhere from 8k-16k. The practices either want me to pay out of pocket or finance through a credit card such as CareCredit. While I have a CareCredit card, my credit limit is only 5.4k.

Unfortunately it seems like this is going to be a lot more expensive than I hoped for. It's extremely dismaying to know I'm so close but so far.

Please share, and donate if you can. Thank you all

My name is Ash. If you know me, you know I'm a FtM (female to male) transgender person. This means I was born in a female body and have female body parts. My breasts have always been a part of my body that I hated, even when I still identified as a girl. They significantly impact me negatively and contribute to a large part of my dysphoria. I feel like getting my breasts surgically removed is the final step I need to truly be "me!" I will look a lot more masculine, and I'll finally be able to do things I've only ever dreamed of doing, like getting to suntan with my shirt off and swim at the beach/pool with no shirt like the other cis guys do.

I lost my health insurance when I turned 21. I have been working my entire adult life towards being a zookeeper, which is unfortunately a job that doesn't pay much. I've had to choose my career and monetary stability over my gender and my identity. The buck stops here, though. I have a consultation scheduled with The Cosmetic Concierge in Charlotte, North Carolina. The consultation alone cost 100$. This particular practice does not take insurance. I won't know how much the surgery will cost until the day of my consultation, but estimates I've seen online are anywhere from 2,000 USD to 8,000 USD. I'm in a financial spot where I feel like I can finance this properly, but help from friends, family, and the greater community will make it all the more easier for me. If I have this surgery done, I will have to take time off work to recover. I will also need to buy post-surgery care supplies for myself. It's an investment, but it's one that I've delayed for far too long. I want to feel happy in my body.
