Support Ashlyn After Mike Dunbar's Tragic Loss

James Michael Dunbar - Mike tragically left us Friday night March 7, 2025. Mike was the lead mechanic at Hill Country Tire and Automotive in Wimberley for the last 6 years. He was loved by the loyal customer base he built the last two decades working on anything with a motor that needed to be fixed. Mike was preceded in death by his two little brothers, Daniel and Andrew who were killed in car accidents exactly five years apart and a mile away from each other. This was a burden in Mike’s mind he was never able to cope with.

Mike left behind one daughter, Ashlyn, who was his biggest cheerleader, his best shop helper and his pride and joy. Ashlyn was born with Mike’s brilliant ability to understand math and mechanics, and love for big trucks and fast cars. They spent countless nights together in the shop working on projects or even customer vehicles. He taught her how to do her own brakes, use power tools and scanners. Mike was determined for Ashlyn to learn as much as possible so she was never stuck and dependent on anyone else. He had her on 4 wheelers and their Kawasaki mule before she could walk, standing in the seat of his 4 wheel drive truck steering when she was so small she could barely see over the top of the wheel. She could operate a skid steer and drive a right hand drive stick shift by 10. She was daddy’s little girl digging in the mud with a princess crown and pink high heels on.

Ashlyn turned 18 a few months ago and has suddenly been dealt an enormous amount of bills, responsibilities and adult issues to handle while she’s trying to process and accept her daddy being gone forever. Please keep her in your prayers as she has a long, bumpy road ahead. All funds donated will go to Ashlyn for funeral costs, the restoration of the interior of Mike’s truck that is the only thing she cares about having and the mortgage and bills at his house so nothing is lost while she takes the time needed to sort everything out.
