Support Ashli Walden's Stroke Recovery

Donation protected
This GoFundMe has been set up in the wake of a very unexpected medical emergency. On July 3rd, Ashli Walden (wife of Rusty Walden) suffered a stroke, at only 32 years old. Ashli and Rusty are the parents of 8 beautiful children who have now been left without their parents. Rusty will be out of work for an unknown amount of time. In addition, Ashli was supposed to start her new job this coming week, which she is now no longer able to do. I come to everyone to ask for any donations your heart feels compelled to give. All funds raised will go directly to Rusty and Ashli to cover medical expenses, care, food, and essentials for all 8 children, travel to and from the hospital, and ongoing care once Ashli is released from the hospital. As always, if you aren’t in a position to donate, PLEASE pray for healing and answers. The power of prayer is monumental, and I believe it can move mountains.

What we know so far:
- This stroke has affected her right basal ganglia. A stroke in the right basal ganglia can cause a range of neurological issues, including movement disorders, emotional and cognitive impairments, and difficulties with spatial awareness and perception. Specifically, damage to the right basal ganglia can lead to left-sided neglect, making it difficult to recognize or respond to stimuli on the left side of the body and environment. Other potential effects include apathy, slowed or reduced movement, memory problems, and emotional blunting. Physical therapy will be required to gain strength back in her left side. This has also had an impact on cognition. She’s currently unable to fully read or understand text messages and struggles to form a response back via text. She is able to understand physical language, so a phone call or video call is best right now.

- Doctors are working hard to determine the cause of the stroke. There is a potential it was caused by an autoimmune disease, but more in-depth testing is scheduled to confirm or deny.

- Ashli’s body and mind are EXHAUSTED right now, and the mental weight of the severity of the situation has been very difficult for her to handle. I ask that you please go through Rusty with any questions, updates, etc., to help lessen the mental load on Ashli right now.
