Support Ashley's Journey to Berlin Opera Academy

Hello all!

I am Ashley Schumacher, a lyric coloratura soprano based in Baltimore, MD! I am pursuing my master's in vocal performance and pedagogy at The Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute, studying under Elizabeth Futral. My dream has always been to sing to bring people joy and to invite them into the world of opera. Through every performance, I strive to create a new meaning to every character I portray. As a young singer I must create my own opportunities in order to get the best training and experiences in the opera world as I can, which means applying to programs such as this!

I am pleased to announce that I was accepted into the esteemed Berlin Opera Academy in Germany and will be playing the title role of Massenet's opera Cendrillon. This program and role is a dream come true as I will play one of my favorite characters, Cinderella! It runs from July 12 to August 17, meaning I will be living in Berlin for a little more than a month! This program includes voice lessons, vocal coaching, acting, masterclasses, and German language courses. On top of this, we will also have the opportunity to sing for professional agents from the United States and Europe, allowing incredible exposure to the opera world. Some other courses will be given, such as talks on promoting yourself as a musician through networking and social media. The opera will be performed with a full orchestra in a professional theater.

I could not be more thrilled to be accepted into this program, working with renowned faculty and staff with connections worldwide.

Unfortunately, this summer training program is expensive, and I will need monetary support. The amount listed includes the cost of tuition, housing, food, and a plane ticket, which will come out to $7,500.

It would be a huge blessing to me if you would consider sending me support whether that be monetarily or from thoughts and prayers!
